There is a lot of news regarding the post-season for the various independent professional baseball leagues. Here are the updates across the industry:
American Association
- 2012 post-season All Star awards for the AA – click here
- The 2012 AA playoffs start tomorrow night (Wed, Sept. 5). Winnipeg will take on Fargo-Moorhead and Wichita will take on Laredo. Each is a best-of-5 series. The 2012 AA championship begins with Game 1 next Tuesday (Sept. 11). Here is where you can keep updated: 2012 American Association playoffs
Atlantic League
- Regular season is still continuing
Can-Am League
- The 2012 Can-Am League post-season awards are announced. Get the results here
- The 2012 Can-Am League championship begins tomorrow night (Wed, Sept. 5). There was no first round of the playoffs. The New Jersey Jackals will begin the best-of-7 championship on the road against the Quebec Capitales. Follow the Can-Am League playoff action here
Frontier League
- The 2012 end-of-year awards for the Frontier League were announced. You can get the list here
- The Frontier League playoffs begin tomorrow night (Wed, Sept. 5). The Southern Illinois Miners will start on the road against the Traverse City Beach Bums. The Florence Freedom will start on the road against the Gateway Grizzlies. Each is a best-of-5 series. The 2012 Frontier League championship begins next week (Wed, Sept. 12). North American League
- The San Rafael Pacifics already won the Northern Division championship
- The United League (Southern) Division will start its playoffs this Wednesday, Sept. 5. The Fort Worth Cats will begin on the road against the San Angelo Colts. The Edinburg Roadrunners will take on the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings. Each is a best-of-3 series
Pecos League
- The Alpine Cowboys won the 2012 Pecos League championship in the beginning of August
Freedom Pro Baseball League
- No post-season will be played for the league. No word on if a league champion was crowned due to the suspension of the playoffs. If so, it likely would be the Copper State Prospectors due to their regular season standings, found here
