Here is an interesting article about the business of independent baseball:

Apparently, Opening Day Partners wants to pursue the possibility of going after Frederick, MD as an option for an Atlantic League team. One of the main partners was involved with the current Frederick Keys as late as 2001.
It is interesting to note that the Keys lease the stadium for $30,000 a year (according to the article). This figure means that the team gets the stadium for roughly $500 a game (plus or minus), a figure which beats the deals of many independent minor league teams who are not the primary tenants for their stadiums.
Feel free to leave your thoughts on this issue; and news will be posted here should something significant occur as a result of these discussions.
