BOX SCORE AND GAME STATS East Side Diamond Hoppers 3 AT Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers 4 By Adam Rickert It didn’t start well, but the Birmingham-Bloomfield Beavers hitters finally got the monkey off their backs in Thursday night’s 4-3 win over the Eastside Diamond Hoppers. Deadlocked at three runs apiece in the bottom of the eighth, Dave Pepe came home to score on a single by Alex Bell to put the Beavers ahead. “Bell came up huge with a big hit,” said Pepe, who led off the inning with a single. “I just tried to do things with my legs to help us score that run, so I was glad to be a part of that.” The Beavers, who were no-hit by Donny Murray of the Utica Unicorns on Sunday and collected just two hits in the final six innings of Saturday’s 7-4 loss to the Diamond Hoppers, were again held without a baserunner through the first three innings of Thursday’s contest. The wheels began to turn, however, when Pepe led off the bottom of the fourth inning with a walk.
