Utica Unicorns 3 AT Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers 0 By Adam Rickert Magic was in the air for Donny Murray and the Utica Unicorns Sunday afternoon at Jimmy John’s Field. Murray turned in an unforgettable performance on the mound, throwing the first no-hitter in league history in the Unicorns’ 3-0 win over the Birmingham-Bloomfield Beavers. “It feels awesome,” Murray said after getting Kyle Richards to pop out to seal the no-hitter. “My slider was working great; I leaned on that pitch all day.” Murray used the slider as well as his fastball and changeup to miss bats throughout the entire game. He struck out 13 batters while walking just three, moving him to the top of the USPBL strikeout list with 41. “In the late innings when I knew my fastball velocity wasn’t where it usually is, I worked the changeup in a lot,” he said. Contrary to normal tradition, Murray said his Unicorn teammates did not give him the silent treatment once they realized he was bidding for a no-no. “Everyone high-fived me when I came in, everyone talked to me if I talked to them and a couple guys sat near me,” he said. “It wasn’t too weird…
