BOX SCORE AND GAME STATS By Adam Rickert Utica Unicorns 6 AT Birmingham-Bloomfield Beavers 5 UTICA — The Utica Unicorns opened up the month of August exactly how they wanted to with a 6-5 win over the Birmingham-Bloomfield Beavers to end a four-game losing streak. Getting back into the win column wasn’t easy, as the Unicorns found themselves down, 4-2, to begin the fifth inning. A two-run home run by Austin Crutcher, his ninth of the year, knotted things up. Beavers designated hitter Eric Phillis put his team ahead again with an RBI single in the sixth, but Crutcher clapped back with another homer in the seventh. “I was just trying to be aggressive, get a good swing and find a good pitch to hit,” said Crutcher. With the score tied at five, Unicorns shortstop Ian Yetsko knocked in pinch runner Luciano Villanueva, putting Utica in the lead and allowing Jacob Ezell to take the mound in the ninth to nail down the save. “Its extremely big for us,” Crutcher said when asked about the magnitude of Wednesday’s slump-buster. “We’ve got a lot of guys with a lot of talent and a lot of fight in them, and they do…
