BOX SCORE AND GAME STATS By Adam Rickert Eastside Diamond Hoppers 5 AT Birmingham-Bloomfield Beavers 1 UTICA — Eastside Diamond Hoppers starting pitcher Jeff Conley was magnificent in his team’s 5-1 victory over the Birmingham-Bloomfield Beavers on Thursday night. Conley silenced Birmingham-Bloomfield’s bats for seven dominant innings, surrendering just four hits and two walks. He racked up nine strikeouts, a season high, and moved into a tie for fifth place on the USPBL’s leaderboard with 37 on the year. “For the first part of the game just my fastball and changeup were working,” he said. “But the later I got into the game, my slider and curveball came around. “My slider was probably my best pitch tonight,” he added. Conley’s only hiccup came in the bottom of the sixth inning when he allowed a solo home run to Nic Wilson. Thursday’s outing was a bounce-back game for Conley, who struggled against the same Beavers in his last start on August 14. He earned a win in the game, but allowed 10 hits and five earned runs in five and one-third innings. “I just went out there with confidence and I knew I could beat them since I had done it…
