BOX SCORE AND GAME STATS East Side Diamond Hoppers 7 AT Utica Unicorns 4 By Adam Rickert The Eastside Diamond Hoppers opened up this week’s USPBL action with an impressive offensive display Wednesday night at Jimmy John’s Field, defeating the Utica Unicorns by a final score of 7-4. The Hoppers collected 15 hits on the night, with five coming from the bottom three hitters in the order: designated hitter Chris Power, left fielder Colin Willis and second baseman Ricky Castro. “You could take me, Willis and Castro and put us at the top of the lineup and it would still be a good lineup,” said Power. “We just try to get up there and get on base for guys like (Luke) Ortel and (Ryne) Willard to drive us in.” Power scored the first run of the game on a wild pitch in the second inning with Castro at the plate. Castro then singled to bring home Willis. Power finished 2-for-4 on the night, stealing two bases and scoring two runs.
