Box Score | Photo Gallery UTICA, Mich. – Dan Ward smashed a 427-foot home run and went 2-for-4, while Carter Grote finished a home run shy of the cycle, going 3-for-5 and drove in a run to lead the Utica Unicorns (13-13) past the Westside Woolly Mammoths (13-11), 6-4, in front of a sell out crowd at Jimmy John’s Field on Friday night. The USPBL 2.5 rule witnessed a second consecutive game that went the full nine innings. After last night’s 2 hour and 30 minute contest, tonight’s game reached the ninth inning in 2 hours and 24 minutes, and completed in 2:42. Right-handed pitcher Cody Brown (4-3) had a 17.1 consecutive scoreless innings streak snapped in the second inning as the Woolly Mammoths’ Brandon Cuddy homered to right field. Brown tossed 6.0 innings and struck out seven for the win. Brynn Martinez went 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs scored and one RBI. RHP Chris Dula tossed a scoreless eighth inning for the hold, throwing a pitch of 99 miles per hour, striking out one. Michael Scimanico earned the save after striking out three in a scoreless ninth.
