August 12th, 2012 By Tyler Curran UTICA, MI- If you have been to a Utica Unicorns game, you most likely heard the name ‘Austin Crutcher’ over the loud speaker at some point during the game. Crutcher, or ‘Crutch,’ as his teammates call him, is an outfielder for the Unicorns who has become an everyday guy for the team. On and off the field Crutcher has become a leader that leads by example and lets his game do the talking, a value teams wish to possess in a player. A four-year letter winner at Bellarmine University, Crutcher led the team in several categories including home runs, doubles, RBI’s, runs scored, slugging percentage and walks. In his senior season, he started in all 52 games. But what stands out about Crutch is his ability to be an effective two-way player and what comes with that repertoire. “It’s one way or the other, you got either home runs or stolen bases, but a good amount of each shows a lot about my versatility,” Crutcher explains.
