Box Score | Photo Gallery UTICA, Mich. – Right-handed pitcher Luis Contreras worked 5.0 innings, striking out 10 and allowed two runs to lead the Eastside Diamond Hoppers (1-0) to a 5-4 win over the two-time defending champion Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers (0-1) on Opening Day at Jimmy John’s Field. Catcher Tommy LaCongo drove in two runs for the Hoppers and finished 2-for-3. Pat Adams and Wesley Jones each added two hits. Nick Campana led the Beavers with a double and triple, finishing the game 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Left-handed pitcher Gerry Salisbury (0-1) tossed 4.0 innings, allowing six hits, two earned runs and fanned six. The Utica Unicorns and Westside Woolly Mammoths will face off on Saturday at Jimmy John’s Field, first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. It will be WCSX Classic Rock Saturday with Blender Detroit and a Magnet Schedule Giveaway presented by Liberty Tax. #YourSummerDestination
