UTICA, Mich. – Right-handed pitcher Keon Taylor earned the win after tossing 2.0 innings and striking out three, while Noah Childress went 3-for-4 to lead the Utica Unicorns (5-1) over the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers (2-4), 4-3, on Thursday at Jimmy John’s Field.
Drue Galassi showed patience at the plate for the Unicorns, earning two walks.
Birmingham’s starting left fielder Eric Whitfield led the offensive attack, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Ryan Sullivan finished with one RBI.
Tomorrow is another Jimmy John’s Field famous Firework Friday! It’s an Eastside versus Westside matchup courtesy of Extra Credit Union. Gates open at 6 p.m.; first pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
