UTICA, Mich. – The Utica Unicorns (10-8) allowed no runs and no hits against the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers (3-13) in game two of Saturday’s doubleheader at Jimmy John’s Field.
The Unicorns used strong defense to get the win, allowing only one base runner in the game, walking Bramdon Perez. Andrew Severini earned his fourth win of the season, pitching 4.0 innings, striking out four. Jace Baumann tossed the final 1.1 innings, striking out all four batters he faced.
Offensively for Utica, third baseman Austin Ochoa went 2-for-3 with one run. Patrick Baggett had one hit and one run, while Tyler Shinn had two hits, one RBI and crossed home plate once.
