Powerful day at the plate from Jacob Teter assists in Chicago Dogs 8-4 win over the Lincoln Saltdogs.

Following a series win in Kane County, the Dogs started a seven game homestand, first hosting the Lincoln Saltdogs.

For the Dogs, Steven Lacey started on the mound in the series opener. Despite allowing three runs in the third inning, Lacey responded quickly, throwing three scoreless innings. Lacey’s strong recovery kept him in the game through six innings, only allowing three runs on five hits, striking out seven.

Chicago’s offense swung hard, early in the game, scoring two runs in the second inning.

The hot Dogs offense continued to pound Lincoln pitching, scoring runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings.

Most notable in the Dogs offensive production run was Jacob Teter. The lefty first baseman felt great at the plate in the win, hitting two home runs to right field, totalling five RBI’s on the day. Teter’s two home runs moved him to second in the American Association in home runs, with nine, while also moving him to third in the league in RBI’s, with 28.

Augie Voight was first out of the bullpen for Chicago. Voight threw a scoreless seventh inning, but found himself in a jam in the eighth inning, loading the bases with just one out retired. Voight wasn’t given the opportunity to escape the jam, getting relieved by Cal Djuraskovic.

Djuraskovic first faced Luke Roskam, forcing Roskam to pop out into foul territory, but Saltdogs right fielder Gary Mattis had his head in the game, tagging up and scoring when he noticed no Dogs player was covering home.

Djuraskovic managed to strike out Jack Dragum to escape the bottom of the eighth inning, only allowing one run of damage.

Djuraskovic stayed on the mound for the ninth inning, protecting the four run lead, sealing a 8-4 victory for the Dogs.

The Dogs look to extend the team’s three game win streak in game two of the series.
