UTICA, Mich. – The Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers (15-28, 2-0) defeated the Westside Woolly Mammoths (25-19, 0-1), 9-0, on Friday night in front of a sellout crowd, to make it to the Championship Game on Saturday.
The Beavers put Sam Bass on the mound to start the game. Bass threw 8.0 innings, striking out 11 and only allowing two hits and no runs, earning himself player of the game. Jacob Pennington tossed the last inning, striking out one of the three batters he faced.
The Beavers Pablo Ruiz hit an inside the park home run, bringing home four runs. Ruiz ended the night 2-for-5 with six RBI and two runs scored. Joe Burke had one hit and scored three times. The Beavers scored nine runs on four hits.
For the Mammoths Dre Williams-Nelson and Jose Cedeno were the only batter to knock hits.
The Beavers will take on the no. 1 seeded Utica Unicorns tomorrow, Saturday, September 7, at 6:30 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
