We just heard from the Pecos League’s JD Droddy and Andrew Dunn that the league now has 5 alumni who have reached the Major Leagues. The other night, Logan Gillaspie pitched for the Baltimore Orioles. He played for the Pecos League’s Monterey Amberjacks.
According to league officials, here are the five Pecos League alumni who have played at least one game in Major League Baseball after having been in the Pecos League:
Jon Edwards – Alpine Cowboys – Padres 2014
Chris Smith – White Sands Pupfish – Toronto 2017
Eric Yardley – Taos Blizzard & Trinidad Triggers – Padres 2019
Yermin Mercedes – Douglas Diabalos & White Sands Pupfish – White Sox 2020
Logan Gillaspie – Monterey Amberjacks – Orioles 2022
All except Mercedes are pitchers. Mercedes is a catcher and was primarily a DH for CHW. He is currently injured and not playing.
