UTICA, Mich – The Westside Woolly Mammoths (20-16) defeated the Eastside Diamond Hoppers (19-19), 5-1, on Wednesday night at Jimmy John’s Field in front of a lively crowd.
The Mammoths won behind great pitching from starter Karter Fitzpatrick, who tossed 6.0 innings, fanning five, scattering three hits and giving up the single Hoppers run. In relief, Matt Swilley finished the game for Westside, also striking out five and reaching a pitch velocity of 97 MPH.
Offensively for the Mammoths, four player had a two hit evening, including Jake Walker, Fox Leum, Nick Pastore and Anthony Sharkas.
For the Hoppers, Colin Cornwell went 2-for-4 with one RBI and Bailey Martin ended the night with two hits and one run scored.
