UTICA, Mich. – The Westside Woolly Mammoths (22-17) defeated the Eastside Diamond Hoppers (21-21), 3-0, on Thursday night at Jimmy John’s Field, as the battle for the no. 1 seed goes on.
Karter Fitzpatrick started on the mound for the Mammoths and tied a USPBL record, striking out 13 batters in tonight’s contest (Donnie Murray, Utica Unicorns, 2016). Fitzpatrick tossed 8.0 innings, allowing only two hits and no runs.
Offensively for Westside, Hank Dodson hit a home run and Fox Leum went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Dre Williams-Nelson also had a two hit evening.
For the Hoppers, RHP Pierce Banks threw 6.0 innings, striking out 10. Only Zeb Roos and Bailey Martin had hits and Noah Marcoux walked twice.
