UTICA, Mich. – The Eastside Diamond Hoppers (3-1) won in dramatic fashion, with a walk-off victory, against the Utica Unicorns (2-2) in game one of Saturday’s doubleheader at Jimmy John’s Field in front of an energetic crowd.
Noah Marcoux earned player of the game honors, with one run scored, one hit and two walks. Matt Goehrig and Luke Stephenson (as a pinch-hitter) recored one RBI each. Delmus Russ picked up the win, which was his first win of the season., pitching 1.0 inning out of the bullpen. He had no hits, one run and struck out two.
For the Unicorns, Patrick Baggett had three stolen bases, one hit and scored once. Dee Triplett had the single RBI for Utica. The loss went to RHP Daniel Denz.
The Hoppers came back in the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring two runs by Zeb Roos and Jake Shier, to win the game.
