UTICA, Mich. – The Eastside Diamond Hoppers (20-20) defeated the Utica Unicorns (21-19) with a late big inning, 10-3, on Sunday afternoon at Jimmy John’s Field.
The Hoppers scored eight runs in the top of the seventh inning. Bryant Shellenbarger went 2-for 3 with two runs scored and one RBI. Grant Stephenson had three RBI on the day, with one hit and he scored once. Whit Hughes had two RBI of this own, with one double. RHP Ryan Korolden started on the mound, tossing 4.0 innings, scattering four hits and allowing two runs.
For the Unicorns, Marques Titialii had two hits and two RBI. Sam Buduris brought in the other run for Utica, and Kody Hanna and Ryan Enos knocked the other hits. Michael Joyce threw the first 5.0 innings, striking out eight.
