UTICA, Mich. – Pierce Banks would pitch an incredible game, with no walks or earned runs, and eight strikeouts to lead the Eastside Diamond Hoppers (5-2) to a 9-2 victory over the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers (1-5), which places Eastside atop the USPBL Standings.
The first run scored for the Hoppers would come off the bat of Zeb Roos. He would also make an incredible defensive play in the bottom of the fifth leading to a tag at home.
Matt Goehrig would get his ninth and 10th RBI of the season on a double in the top of the sixth inning, bringing the lead to 8-0 for the Hoppers.
The first scoring for the Beavers would not come until the bottom of the sixth, when Ranko Stevanovic doubled, bringing in two RBI and avoiding the shutout.
Ben Ferguson would have a spectacular hitting game, starting with an RBI single in his first at bat, and a three-run home run in the fifth on the way to a give RBI game. Noah Marcoux, who is batting over .500, would also earn his 10th walk of the season.
