CRESTWOOD, IL – The ThunderBolts jumped out to a five-run first inning lead and carried all the way to a 7-5 victory over the Washington Wild Things in front of 2,332 fans at Standard Bank Stadium Saturday night. After a perfect top half of the first from starter Will Landsheft, the ThunderBolts (8-10) got a little help in scoring their first run in the bottom of the inning. Tim Zier reached on an error before Tyler Straub extended his hitting streak to 13 games with an RBI double off the wall. Larry Balkwill was hit by a pitch and Brandon Rawe walked before Riley Krane came up with the bases loaded and launched a home run over the left field fence to put the Bolts ahead 5-0. The Wild Things (11-9) got on the board in the third with back-to-back two-out hits.
