CRESTWOOD, IL – The ThunderBolts responded to being shutout in the opener by holding the Crushers scoreless in a 5-0 win in game two of a three-game set at Standard Bank Stadium Wednesday night. Windy City (32-43) used three different pitchers in their seventh shutout victory of the year with most of the credit going to starter Braulio Torres-Perez, who allowed six hits and struck out nine in the winning effort. The Bolts’ offense got going in the second when Tyler Straub reached on a leadoff double. After advancing to third on a single by Blair Beck, Crushers’ starter Oriel Caicedo attempted to pick off Beck at first base and Straub managed to steal home to put his team up 1-0. One batter later, Derek Bangert doubled home Beck, who scored all the way from first to increase the Windy City lead to 2-0. The ThunderBolts doubled their lead in the fourth thanks to one swing from Beck, who launched his 10thhome run of the year.
