WILD THINGS’ YOUTH BASEBALL INITIATIVE CONTINUES IN 2017!

In 2016, the Washington Wild Things established their first ever Youth Baseball Initiative program involving 8 community youth programs and nearly 3,000 kids. The plan was put in place with a two prong approach: focus on creating great experiences and memories for youth players of all ages, and provide funds to these volunteer-based community associations. “Our goal of this initiative was to engage youth players, across all skill levels, and build a deeper love of the game of baseball. Behind the scenes, we wanted to provide financial support and additional services to the youth associations as a whole. We strive to put smiles on kid’s faces and volunteer’s jobs easier!”, stated program director Tony Buccilli. The first year showed great dividends, raising $5,000, with every dollar funding the day to day expenses of a youth league; jerseys, equipment and field materials. The Wild Things’ also donated over 100 pairs of baseball pants and 4 sets of catchers gear to players in need.
