WASHINGTON, PA – The Washington Wild Things (43-42) and the Traverse City Beach Bums (37-48) competed to see who would win a three game set during a Wednesday, August 24, 2016 matchup. Washington triumphed during the nail-biting competition with a score of 3-2. RHP Chase Cunningham (6-9) recorded the win for Washington; during his 7.0 innings on the mound, Cunningham allowed only four hits and struck out five Beach Bums. RHP Kolin Stanley (3-1) earned the save for the Wild Things. RHP Tucker Simpson (3-4) was the losing pitcher for the Beach Bums. Washington scored first during the nine-inning competition when Jimmy Yezzo doubled in the first, scoring Andrew Heck and Ricky Rodriguez. Both teams scored in the seventh; the Beach Bums off of a sacrifice fly and the Wild Things off of an infield hit. Traverse City threatened in the ninth when Will Kengor homered; however, this was not enough to catch the Wild Things who won the outing with a score of 2-1.
