Wild Things To Assist Victims of Washington Building Collapse

WASHINGTON, Pa. – Following Wednesday’s partial building collapse in downtown Washington, the Wild Things have announced that 50% of walk-up sales to this weekend’s games will be donated to assist the victims of the collapse. A rear section of the roof and upper floor of the apartment building at 15 North Main Street, came down before 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 12. Firefighters and emergency crews worked more than nine hours to assist the victims and deeper into the night cleaning up and assessing the damage. City officials, according to the Washington Observer Reporter, plan to demolish the building as soon as possible. A total of eight people were in the building at the time it collapsed. Five got out on their own, two more were extricated quickly and one was rescued by emergency responders some nine hours after the collapse. “We are deeply saddened by the situation with yesterday’s building collapse,” said Wild Things’ general manager Steven Zavacky. “We know the Red Cross is helping the victims, and as part the Washington County community, we would like to assist the victims of the collapse in any way we can as well.” The team encourages people to come out to the…
