AVON, Ohio — The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, ended their three-game winning streak with a 12-3 loss to the Washington Wild Things on Wednesday afternoon. The loss for the Crushers (3-2) was their first since opening day, while the Wild Things (3-2) connected for a season-high 10 doubles. Lake Erie drew first blood in the first inning. Jordan Dean and Cody Lenehan cracked back-to-back doubles, and a two-out single for Sean Hurley gave the Crushers a 2-0 lead after the first. Washington responded in a big way in the following frame. Three consecutive doubles from Jace Conrad, Kane Sweeney and Kyle Pollock plated two runs, and Trevin Sonnier contributed a single to give the Wild Things a 3-2 lead. The Washington lead only grew in the third, as they added another four runs. Rashad Brown started the frame with a single, stealing his way to third and scoring on a Mike Hill double. After Brailin Jackson was hit by a pitch, Conrad knocked his second double in as many innings, and Sweeney followed with a two-run single to bring the score to 7-2.
