FLORENCE, KY (July 31, 2016) – The Washington Wild Things (32-31) took on the Florence Freedom (28-38) Sunday evening at UC Health Stadium. Washington emerged victorious in a 4-1 victory. Matt Fraudin (5-4) picked up another win on the mound, finishing with a 2.56 ERA and five strikeouts in seven innings pitched. Jordan Kraus (1-3) is charged with the loss, finishing with a 3.09 ERA and five strikeouts in seven innings pitched. Andrew Heck got things started for the Wild Things with a leadoff single to begin the 1st inning. Ricky Rodriguez followed up with a single of his own to advance Heck to third. The Wild Things then took a 1-0 lead on hit from David Popkins that resulted in a double play but brought home Heck. The game remained a pitchers duel as the scoreboard read zeros for five straight innings. The Freedom finally managed to get on the board with a wild pitch to Daniel Fraga that brought home Mason Salazar, who reached base earlier in the inning on a leadoff walk.
