WEEKLY AWARD WINNERS: Bernard of Traverse City and DeLeon of Florence

Florence Freedom pitcher Christian DeLeon and Traverse City outfielder Isaac Bernard were named Frontier League Pitcher and Players of the Week, respectively as chosen by Pointstreak, the official statistical provider of the Frontier League and the Independent Professional Baseball Federation.   Christian DeLeon came to Florence after spending the 2017 season playing for the Melbourne Aces of the Australian Baseball League. DeLeon earned his honors this week by going 1-0 in his lone start while turning in 7.0 innings pitched and surrendering only one hit while striking out eight and not allowing a run.   DeLeon appeared in only 2.2 innings pitched while playing for the Melbourne Aces, since coming to Florence he has gone 4-2 over 41.0 innings pitched. The Bellville, Texas native has posted a 3.29 earned run average in eight games this season. The Nebraska alum has struck out 29 off the 160 batters he faced this season and has only allowed 10 free passes.   Isaac Bernard is in his first season with the Traverse City Beach Bums, he earned his honors this week by collecting 10 hits 2 of those being home runs. Bernard also drove in 5 and hit .455 while collecting six walks…
