Washington Walks Off River City In Pitchers’ Duel

WASHINGTON, Pa. (August 3) – The Washington Wild Things (39-31) bounced back by taking game one of the three-game series with the River City Rascals (37-34) by a score of 1-0. After another quality outing by starting pitcher Thomas Dorminy (8-4) the Wild Things secured the victory on an walk-off single by third baseman Mike Hill. The first seven innings of the game saw a pitching duel between Dorminy and Rascals starter Justin Garcia (1-0). Both pitchers tossed seven innings with Dorminy only letting up two hits, walking four and striking out six. Similarly, Garcia let up three hits, walked two and struck out three over his seven innings. Davis Adkins (4-4) took the mound in relief in the eighth inning and recorded the first two outs before recently-activated pitcher Jake Eaton (1-0) came on to the punch the last batter of the inning out. Eaton also pitched in the ninth and picked up the win, retiring all four batters he faced over his 1.1 inning of work in his 2018 debut.
