SCHAUMBURG, Il. (June 24) – After dropping the first two games of the series against the Boomers in Schaumburg Friday and Saturday, the Wild Things salvaged a game in the three-game set by taking Sunday’s finale 6-2. The win snapped the Wild Things’ four-game skid and ensured Washington will still be alone in first place going into the six-game homestand this week. It was a four-run second inning that was the difference in the game for Washington, as the Wild Things struck first and added on three times in the frame. Catcher Kyle Pollock got the inning started with a double, which extended his on-base streak to 21 games. After an infield single by first baseman Reydel Medina and a pop out by right fielder Hector Roa, third baseman Mike Hill plated Pollock with a single to open the scoring. A batter later, designated hitter Jordan Edgerton doubled home Medina for his first Wild Things’ RBI. Then, shortstop Brett Marr scored Hill with a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0, before Edgerton scored on a wild pitch by Schaumburg’s starter Will Stillman.
