Washington Sweeps Doubleheader at Home

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington Wild Things (49-42) swept the Joliet Slammers (41-51) in doubleheader action on Wednesday, August 30, by scores of 7-1 and 2-1, respectively. These two wins give the Wild Things a half-game lead in the wild-card chase. Trevor Foss (12-5) got the win in game one, going six innings of one-run baseball, allowing only two hits. Ethan Gibbons (3-2) picked up the complete game victory as he only allowed one run on five hits with nine strikeouts in game two. The Wild Things got on the board in each of the last three innings of game one, as they put seven runs on the board. These tallies were highlighted by a triple from catcher Kyle Pollock in the fourth, and a two-run homer from shortstop Justin Bohn in the bottom of the sixth. Offense was harder to come by in game two, as the Wild Things were shut out for six innings, after allowing Joliet to score a run in the top of the first.
