TRAVERSE CITY, MI- The Traverse City Beach Bums(23-26) and the Gateway Grizzlies(22-30), matched zeroes on the scoreboard until the ninth as the Beach Bums took the middle game of this weekend’s three game set by a final score of 1-0. Starters Reinaldo Lopez for the Beach Bums and Mike Elwood were the stars in tonight’s game, each flummoxing the entire batting order in tonight’s contest through eight scoreless. Finally, in the bottom of the ninth, with one away, the Beach Bums strung a rally together. Will Kengor started it with a walk then, after a pitching change, Lowery singled to move Kengor to second. Alexis Rivera followed with a single into right-center field, scoring Kengor, and sending Beach Bums Nation into a frenzy. Reinaldo Lopez picked up the win and his second complete game of the year, allowing four hits and a walk while striking out seven. He improves his record to 4-3. Mike Elwood takes the tough loss, dropping to 4-4. He went eight and a third innings, allowing the lone run on two hits and a walk.
