Traverse City Tops Florence 4-3 in 11 Innings

TRAVERSE CITY, MI- The Traverse City Beach Bums(5-7), trailed early to the Florence Freedom(8-4), but clawed back to win in 11 innings, by a final score of 4-3. The Freedom took an early 3-0 lead after the first inning on a Jose Brizuela sacrifice fly and a Nick Crouse two-run single. In the second, Luke Lowery led off with a double then two batters later, Steve Lohr drove him home with a double of his own. The Beach Bums pulled within one in the fourth when Kenny Peoples-Walls reached on a fielder’s choice then score on a Kengor RBI double. Traverse City tied the game in the eighth on a Kengor RBI single, scoring Max Dutto, who doubled to lead off the inning. Three times in the game, the Beach Bums had a chance to add runs, but had runners cut down at the plate in the seventh, eighth, and ninth innings. In the bottom of the 11th, with the internation tie-breaker rule in effect, Kengor was place on second. After Lowery walked, Donald Glover Jr slapped a liner to first.
