Traverse City Holds On To Early Lead To Top Windy City

CRESTWOOD, IL- The Traverse City Beach Bums(19-23) had a 5-0 lead after five innings and were able to secure the win over the Windy City Thunderbolts(14-28) by a final score of 5-3. After two scoreless innings, the Beach Bums got the offense rolling in the third. Orlando Rivera singled to right with one away then promptly stole second. Isaac Benard followed and lined a single to right-center field to score Rivera for a 1-0 lead. Luke Lowery led off the next inning by getting hit by a pitch for the tenth time this season. Two batters later, Max Dutto hit a two-run homer for the second straight game, his third of the season, for a 3-0 advantage. Orlando Rivera led off the fifth with a walk then Will Kengor and Steve Lohr also followed with walks to load the bases. Luke Lowery singled in Rivera as the bases remained loaded, then Alec Olund drove in another run while reaching on a fielder’s choice for a 5-0 lead.
