Traverse City Enters Break With a Win Over Gateway

TRAVERSE CITY, MI- The Traverse City Beach Bums(24-26) took a five run lead into the final inning and hung on for the victory over the Gateway Grizzlies(22-31), by a final score of 8-7. With the win, the Bums won two of three over Gateway, and four of six during the home stand. Gateway got on the board in the first inning, picking up an RBI infield single from Shane Mardirosian and a sacrifice fly by Blake Brown. They added a third run in the third on a Paul Russo RBI single. In the bottom of the inning, last night’s hero, Alexis Rivera, led off with a single. Two batters later, he moved to second on a Max Dutto walk then scored on Alec Olund’s RBI single to center, for a 3-1 game. The Beach Bums, in the fifth, sent 11 men to the plate as they scored seven runs to take the lead. Isaac Benard led off with a single to right followed by a Luke Lowery single and Noah McGowan getting hit by a pitch.
