TRAVERSE CITY, MI – The Traverse City Beach Bums are happy to announce the signing of outfielder, and former major league draftee, Jason Heinrich. Heinrich was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the fifth round of the 2015 MLB draft from River Ridge High School in New Port Richey, Florida. In high school, Jason was a two-time Preseason Underclass All-American, and was named to the 2015 Perfect Game Preseason All-American and was a Florida All-Region 1st team pick. In 2009, his Forest Hills Florida team won the Cal Ripken World Series, ironically at the same complex he would play at professionally in Aberdeen. He started his professional career in the rookie- level Gulf Coast League where, in 45 games, he hit .270 with two homers, seven doubles, and 23 runs batted in. In his second season, the Spring Hill, FL, native was promoted to the short-season affiliate of the Orioles, the Aberdeen Ironbirds of the New York-Penn League. There, he hit .231 with three home runs, eight doubles, and 13 RBI, in 44 games. He was then traded to the Arizona Diamonbacks organization for major-leaguer, Michael Bourn.
