SCHAUMBURG, IL – The ThunderBolts scored seven runs in the fifth inning Saturday night to erase a two-run deficit and defeat the Schaumburg Boomers 8-6 at oomers Stadium. It was the ThunderBolts’ sixth straight win. The Boomers (1-7) jumped out to an early lead scoring two first inning runs. The first four batters all recorded hits with Josh Gardiner and Jordan Dean scoring on singles from Mark Nelson and Dusty Robinson. The score remained 2-0 until the fifth as Bolts starter Clay Chapman settled down and retired 12 of the next 14 batters. Things got crazy in the fifth as Ransom LaLonde led off with a walk. He would score on Kevin Barker’s one-out single. Coco Johnson singled and Blair Beck walked to load the bases with two outs, chasing Schaumburg starter Gunnar Kiel. Against reliever Kagen Hopkins, Reggie Lawson brought home the tying run on a bases-loaded walk. Cody Keefer followed with a two-run single to make it 4-2. Corey Bass, LaLonde and Taylor Smart each picked up RBI hits as the ThunderBolts (7-1) scored six two-out runs to claim a 7-2 lead. The Boomers answered with three in the bottom of the inning.
