THUNDERBOLTS WIN IN 10TH INNING WALK-OFF

CRESTWOOD, IL – Corey Bass’s two-run double in the bottom of the tenth turned a 3-2 deficit for the Windy City ThunderBolts into a 4-3 victory over the Gateway Grizzlies at Standard Bank Stadium Sunday night. The Grizzlies (30-32) carried the lead for much of the game as they took a 2-0 edge in the third inning. Cody Livesay singled and Craig Massoni hit a two-run homer. Gateway had multiple chances to extend the lead, but left eight men on base in the first five innings. The ThunderBolts (29-31) clawed back to tie the score. They brought their first run in when Corey Bass singled in the fourth inning and Ransom LaLonde doubled him home. Charley Thurber hit his first home run as a ThunderBolt in the fifth inning, a solo shot that knotted the score at two. Rain hit in the eighth inning with the score tied 2-2. There was a 57-minute delay before play resumed and neither team was able to score over the final inning and a half, sending the game into the tenth.
