Slammers Win Streak Continues Despite Rain

JOLIET, Ill. – The Joliet Slammers presented by ATI Physical Therapy resumed play after being rained out in the top of the 4th inning yesterday morning against the Schaumburg Boomers. After winning game one, Joliet’s win streak had reached 5 games as they hosed a double-header at Slammers Stadium. Shane Bryant and Lars Liguori, who started game one, did not pitch to begin the game tonight. For Joliet, Skylar Janisse started for Joliet and Alex Luna got the ball for the Boomers. Momentum is such a sensitive thing in baseball and riding a 5-game win streak Joliet was hoping the rain would not cool them off. Ahead 3-2, Joliet got another run on the scoreboard after a Spencer Naavin sacrifice fly. Naavin added another after a hard hit ground ball to third basemen Ryan O’malley could not field it cleanly which allowed first basemen Rock Shoulders to score easily from third. Schaumburg made it a 3-run contest but left 9 men on base resulting in a 6-3 Joliet victory. The Slammers have now won 6 games in a row and improve to .500. Janisse gets the win for Joliet and yesterday’s starter Lars Liguori received the loss. The second game of the doubleheader…
