Slammers Win On Princess Night With Cinderella Story

JOLIET, Ill. – The Joliet Slammers (7-17) presented by ATI Physical Therapy welcomed the Lake Erie Crushers (7-12) as the Slammers hosted Princess Night at the ballpark behind Duke Von Schammen (1-1). After taking the first series at home over the Wild Things the Slammers got off to a hot start as Juan Silva slugged his 5th home run and Dan Zardon drove in Rock Shoulders to make it 2-0 Joliet in the first inning off of Connor Reed (1-2). Ridge Hoopi-Haslem tacked on with a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0 in the 4th. The 5th inning is when the Crushers’ offense woke up and tallied 3 runs compliments of a 3-run home run to right center from Connor Hoffman (2). The Crushers would rally late and tie the ballgame and get the go-ahead run at third in the 9th. Tasker Strobel was able to get Tanner Lubach to ground into a 5-4-3 double play to tightrope out of danger. Entering the bottom of the 9th inning Chandler Jagodzinski remained to pitch the 9th inning against Juan Silva.
