The Slammers were able to load the bases before recording an out in the bottom of the 1st inning but could only come up with 1 run. Harrison Bragg hit into a double play that brought home Clayton Harp, who singled to open up the inning. Southern Illinois opened the game up in the top of the 2nd inning. Taylor Sparks hit a 2-run homerun to dead center, and the hitting didn’t stop there. The Miners scored another 3 runs in the inning making. The Slammers were able to get one of those runs back, however. Jacob Crum came around to score on a single by Jimmy Roche. The score was 5-2 after 2 innings.
