Slammers Walk Off Otters in 10

JOLIET, IL – As game two got under way the Slammers looked to tie the series with Evansville. After 4 clutch runs in the bottom of the eighth inning and the winning run coming across the plate in the 10th the Slammers enjoyed a hard fought victory. Righty Austin Shea took the mound to kick off game two for Joliet. Shea and company kept the defensive pressure on the Otters as the game was scoreless until the fourth inning, when a sacrifice fly by Elijah MacNamee opened the scoring, and a home run by John Schultz followed in the top of the fifth, as the Otters took an early 2-0 lead. Halfway through the fifth inning the Slammers called right hander Chris Roycroft to the mound to relieve Shea. Shea tossed a total of seven strikeouts, five consecutively to start the game, and faced 20 batters. Roycroft only let in one run…
