Joliet, IL- It did not take long for the Joliet Slammers presented by ATI Physical Therapy to get the scoring started Sunday, June 19. The Slammers scored six times in the second inning to lead them to their 12-4 win over the Schaumburg Boomers. With the win, the Slammers move into first place in the East Division. However, the Windy City Thunderbolts play later today which could affect the standings. The Slammers scored 30 runs against the Boomers in the series, with 21 of them coming in the first three innings. This was also the third straight game where the Slammers scored nine runs. With the wind blowing out, it was a big day for home runs, as the Slammers hit four. Phil Bates hit a home run for the second-straight game in the second inning. “I’m seeing the ball a little bit better than before,” Bates said. “I kind of had some time off to figure some things out so I’m just feeling a little bit more comfortable now.” Bates went 1-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored in the game. “I did a lot of visualizing (in the time off),” Bates said. “Sitting in the stands and just…
