Joliet, IL- The Joliet Slammers presented by ATI Physical Therapy and the Windy City ThunderBolts combined to score just six runs in the first two games of the series, and they nearly tripled that Sunday, July 3. The Slammers came out on top 12-9 in Sunday’s rubber match with Windy City. The Slammers were in complete control of the game before the ninth inning where the ThunderBolts almost made a comeback. Windy City trailed 12-4 heading into the ninth inning and put up five runs off three Slammers pitchers. Brent Choban held off Windy City and got the last out with the bases loaded. Despite the late game scare, the Slammers still earned the series win over the close second place ThunderBolts. “It was great,” Charlie White said about how the Slammers handled the ThunderBolts in the series. “We got the series win, we got back-to-back series wins now this week. We’re feeling good about it, especially beating them (Windy City).” The Slammers’ bats came alive Sunday after being held to just three runs in the first two games.
