JOLIET, IL – The Joliet Slammers presented by ATI Physical Therapy looked to make it five in a row after a late come from behind victory last night in an early 10:05 start Wednedsay. Alex Kisena started for the Grizzlies and Duke Von Schamann got the ball for the Slammers as both squads prepared for a hot day at the ballpark. Joliet wasted little time as lead-off man Ridge Hoopii-Haslam homered to left field to make it 1-0 as Joliet struck first. Both pitchers settled into a nice groove until Grizzlies’ right fielder Terry McClure homered to the opposite field to tie the game 1-1 in the 4th. McClure returned in his next at bat and drove in Matt Hearn who led off with a bunt single after grounding into a fielder’s choice making it 2-1 in favor of Gateway. Steve Pollakov returned to the lineup and tied the ballgame with a sacrifice fly in the 7th, scoring Travis Bolin, but it was the 8th inning that proved you can never rule out this Slammers’ offense.
