Slammers Defeat First Place Florence

JOLIET, IL – The Joliet Slammers presented by ATI Physical Therapy welcomed the West Division Florence Freedom who currently reside in 1st place as they sent Jonny Reid to the mound to oppose Joliet’s Tyler House. The Slammers’ offense wasted little time as Ridge Hoopii-Haslem doubled to start the game and scored on a Melvin Rodriguez line drive to left. Rock Shoulders drove in another with a single to right scoring David Gonzalez who made his Joliet home debut. With a 2-0 lead Tyler House settled in nicely posting 4 shutout frames and then Joliet separated themselves in the bottom half. With 2 quick outs in the bottom of the 4th Joliet rallied together after Gonzalez singled, Shoulders and Steve Pollakov walked. Haslem continued his hitting ways driving them in with a single up the middle as Dom Iero and Spencer Navin both tallied back to back RBI’s as well. Florence picked up 2 in the 6th courtesy of Daniel Fraga’s sac fly and Taylor Oldham’s single to left. Joliet’s bullpen held their ground and Confessor Lara notched his 9th save to seal the 6-4 victory for Joliet. Tyler House receives the win as the losing pitcher was Jonny Reid. Game…
