JOLIET, IL – The Joliet Slammers presented by ATI Physical Therapy found themselves behind the eight ball early after Windy City’s offense pounced on Joliet’s newly acquired Scot Hoffman making his Joliet debut. The Thunderbolts combined for 7 runs after 3 innings of play and it seemed like it was going to be a long night for the Slammers. Joliet broke into the run column in the 3rd inning to make it a 7-1 ballgame and then Hoffman settled into a nice groove and the Joliet Slammers’ continued to showcase their never say die attitude. Joliet shutout the Bolts’ offense the remainder of the way and in the 8th inning Joliet brought them closer when Edwin Gomez laced a home run over the right field wall that was good for 2 runs and then Spencer Navin nearly hit a ball off the light tower in left field for a solo shot. Down by 2 runs in the 9th against elite closer Brian Loconsole, All-Star third basemen Danny Zardon singled to left field to plate a pair that tied the ballgame at 7 as Slammers Stadium erupted.
