JOLIET, IL– Spencer Medick allowed two runs in the fourth inning, but the Slammers’ offense exploded and went on to score 10 straight runs to seal a 10-2 win over the Schaumburg Boomers August 9. The Joliet Slammers presented by ATI Physical Therapy put up 15 hits on the Boomers to lead them to their win Tuesday night. Leading the way offensively for the Slammers was Jake Gronsky. Gronsky went 1-4 at the plate but drove in three runs. Gronsky hit a big two-run home run in the sixth inning. After winning seven-games in a row, the Slammers were swept by the Normal CornBelters, but were able to fight back after the losses to take two of three from the Southern Illinois Miners. “It was good to start this week off with a win,” Carter Bell said. “The playoff hunt starts right about now. We know we’re in good position, we’re not trying to let up anything.” Bell also found some struggles at the plate in the last home stand, which was very rare for the Slammers’ second baseman.
