JOLIET, Ill.– The Joliet Slammers presented by ATI Physcal Therapy hosted the Thunderbolts for the first time this season at Slammers Stadium. Windy City’s designated hitter and Orland Park native, Kyle Wood, homered in the 1st off of Slammers’ starter RHP Shane Bryant to make it 1-0. Bryant settled in as Bolts’ starter RHP Drake Robison struggled with command, but remained efficient until the 3rd inning when Joliet got RBIs from Edwin Gomez and Danny Zardon to take a 2-1 lead. Kyle Wood slugged his second homer of the game off of Bryant in the 4th to tie the game at 2. Joliet answered right back in the 5th after a 2-run single from Juan Silva and then scored on a base hit from Melvin Rodriguez. Travis Bolin demolished a cement mixer slider to left field for a 2-run home run that really got the home crowd rocking. For his performance, Bolin is tonight’s Merchants and Manufacturers Player of the Game. The Slammers held on to win the ballgame 8-4 as Bryant received the win and Robison gets the loss.
