TRAVERSE CITY, Mich.– The Evansville Otters set a season high with 15 hits in a 6-3 win to open the series against the Traverse City Beach Bums. Evansville starter Hunter Ackerman also recorded his second win of the year giving up just three earned runs on four hits. The Evansville starter struck out nine to tie a season high. Evansville (12-13) saw every Otter get a hit in the performance. Traverse City (12-13) got on the board first in the first inning. Steve Patterson hit a home run to right field to make it 2-0. The Otters would not trail long. A sacrifice fly from Kolten Yamaguchi scored Jeff Gardner. Xyruse Martinez then laid down a bunt on the first base line. Kendall Patrick let it roll but it did not go foul as Chris Sweeney scored. Josh Allen then delivered on an RBI single to score Chris Riopedre to give the Otters a 3-2 lead. Traverse City tied up the game in the bottom half of the inning. Giancarlo Brugnoni led off with a triple and was scored on an RBI from Jeff DeBlieux to make it 3-3.
